These photographs were taken in the autumn of 1996 when the islanders were fundraising to buy the island from the absentee landlord. They were successful and in 1997 the Isle of Eigg Heritage Trust purchased the island, ending years of neglect and insecure tenure. Click on any photograph to view it enlarged in a gallery.
